The 2022 K-ARTS in OSAKA: Communication exhibition, participated in by the Korea National University of Arts (President Kim Dae-jin) Convergence Arts Center’s Art & Technology Lab (AT Lab), was hosted by the Korean Cultural Center in Osaka.

This exhibition was designed to promote cultural exchange between Korea and Japan through cutting-edge cultural content, even amidst the challenges facing the relationship between the two countries. Centered around the theme of “communication,” five teams selected from the Korea National University of Arts presented works spanning audiovisual media, performance, and interactive games. These works were introduced to a Japanese audience for the first time.

Furthermore, in collaboration with AT Lab, the exhibition extended into a metaverse platform, allowing audiences to experience the exhibition in a virtual space, overcoming the limitations of physical location.

Interactive works co-created with local Japanese citizens were also presented, including “Village, Wish New Party,” which encourages direct participation, “To Us,” which explores themes of engagement and relationships, and the project “Catch on the Line.”

By diversifying the forms of international cultural exchange, AT Lab continues to seek new methods of communication through the arts.
