As the 2022 academic year approaches, incoming freshmen from Korea's leading university in arts and science and technology have come together for a significant experience in the convergence of arts and science and technology.

Korea National University of Arts (K-Arts), led by President Kim Daejin, in collaboration with KAIST, hosted the '2022 K-ARTS X KAIST Freshmen Video Camp' from February 14th to 21st.

This event was initiated following a memorandum of understanding signed on January 6th between KAIST and K-Arts to expand support for the convergence of culture, arts, and technology, with the aim of fostering mutual exchange among students and enhancing cooperation in the fusion of art and technology.

The inaugural camp, held from February 14th to 21st at the K-Arts Seokgwan Campus, saw the participation of a total of 36 incoming freshmen from KAIST and K-Arts. Through creative lectures on video and game production, as well as team-based workshops for creating works, they enhanced their media literacy and creativity in collaborative art and advanced content creation.

Lee Sngmoo, Director of the K-Arts Art and Technology Lab responsible for planning and organizing the event (also a professor of Department of Filmmaking), stated, "With the advancement of cutting-edge content like the metaverse and augmented reality, the convergence of art and science and technology has become more crucial than ever. However, there is still a lack of creative exchange among talents forming the foundation for this convergence." He emphasized the camp's purpose, saying, "Through team collaboration in planning and producing video works and games, we aim to create a platform for voluntary and creative exchange between talents in art and science and technology."
