Korea National University of Arts (President Pyoen Jang-wan, hereinafter K-ARTS), in collaboration with KAIST (President Lee Kwang-hyung), will host the '2026 K-ARTS X KAIST Freshman AI Video Camp' for eight days from Wednesday, February 4 to Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at the K-ARTS Seokgwan-dong Campus.

The program originated from a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed by the two institutions in 2022 to expand cooperation in integrating culture, arts, and technology. Now in its fifth year, the camp is designed to provide future leaders in art and science with opportunities to experience the convergence of cultural arts and cutting-edge technology.
A total of 36 incoming freshmen from K-ARTS and KAIST will participate. Through creative lectures and team-based production workshops focusing on short-form video and AI content creation, the program aims to help students experience the fusion of art and technology while enhancing their media literacy and creativity.
In particular, the camp features intensive, hands-on training in convergence art utilizing the latest AI tools, such as Midjourney, Runway, ElevenLabs, Suno, and Kling. Participants will materialize their ideas through team production workshops and share their achievements through a screening and evaluation session on the final day of the camp.
In last year's participant survey, 100% of respondents stated they would "recommend this program to juniors," establishing the camp as a signature exchange platform between the two universities. Beyond the boundaries of art and science majors, participants are expected to simultaneously experience artistic thinking and engineering/technological approaches, effectively strengthening their convergence capabilities.
Professor Lee Seung-moo, Director of the K-ARTS Art & Technology (AT) Lab and professor at the School of Film, TV & Multimedia, who planned and organized the camp, stated:
"Art and science share the common denominator of creativity, and the convergence of these two fields will drive the creation of new value. I hope this camp serves as a platform for future artists and scientists to inspire one another and grow together. We will continue to expand creative endeavors that fuse art and technology."
Meanwhile, the K-ARTS AT Lab is a production-led research center aiming to integrate science, technology, culture, art, industry, and education. It has received multiple awards and invitations to major global film festivals—including Sundance, Cannes, and Tribeca—for works such as Scarecrow and Rain Fruits. The lab has consistently proven its global creative capabilities built on convergence arts education, with recent achievements including invitations to SXSW (South by Southwest), winning an award at the Raindance Film Festival for Scarecrow: Rekindled, and an invitation to the Venice International Film Festival Immersive Competition for 8 PM and the Cat.
Furthermore, the AT Lab is leading R&D and global industrialization in AI storytelling through projects such as the 'Global Culture Technology (CT) Expert Training Program' supported by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Creative Content Agency, as well as an 'AI Drama Production Project' with Studio Dragon.
Applications for the camp can be submitted online from Monday, January 26 to Sunday, February 1, 2026. Selected participants will be notified individually via the contact information provided in their applications.
