The Korea National University of Arts (President Daejin Kim), in collaboration with AT Lab, is participating in the '2022 K-Arts in Osaka: Communication' media exhibition hosted by the Korean Cultural Center in Osaka.
This exhibition is planned to promote cultural exchange between Korea and Japan through the latest cultural content and to explore new methods of exchange in the current challenging situation of travel between the two countries.
Centered around the theme of 'Communication', the competition features five teams selected from the Korea National University of Arts. They will present a variety of media art forms, including audio-visual, performance, and games, to the Japanese audience for the first time.
In addition, in collaboration with the AT Lab of Korea National University of Arts, a metaverse exhibition is also being held, allowing audiences to experience the exhibition in a virtual space beyond physical location constraints.
The exhibition features works that directly engage with local Japanese citizens, such as 'The Village, Wish Shrine,' where visitors can make a wish, 'To Us,' which explores participation and relationships, and 'Holding the Line,' a project attempting to connect people.
Taegu Jeong, the director of the Korean Cultural Center in Osaka, said, 'In the future, the way we enjoy culture and arts and the form of cultural exchanges between countries will become more diverse. I hope that this first media art competition held at the Osaka Korean Cultural Center will provide a clue for the new generation of Korea and Japan to find new methods of communication.'
The Osaka exhibition will be held from July 1st to July 8th at the Osaka Cultural Center, and the metaverse exhibition can be experienced from July 1st to July 15th on the Osaka Cultural Center website (k-culture.jp).
