'Culture Day'

Every Wednesday at the Korea National University of Arts with the best movies!

In its 11th year, Korea National University of Arts in Seoul's 'Wednesday Theater' will continue to present topical new works in the second half of 2023 and invite local residents to attend.

The Korea National University of Arts (President Daejin Kim) will screen 15 domestic and international films every Wednesday for four months from September 6 to December 13. The films will be shown in two showings every Wednesday at 3pm and 6:10pm.

Organized by K-Arts A&T Lab at Korea National University of Arts, ‘Wednesday Theater’ will be screening the 2016 film <Your Name>, directed by Makoto Shinkai, whose animated films such as <Weathering With You> and <Suzume> have been well received by Korean audiences, as well as <A Room with a View>, <The Terroriser>, and <Whale Hunt>, as well as recent international films such as <Benedetta>, <Cold War>, and <Babylon>, and heartwarming films such as <Gifted> and <Brigs by Bear>.

In addition, from October 7, we will run the 'Rare Film Collection for the second half of 2023', which will discover and screen rare classic films from home and abroad.

The Rare Film Collection, which began in 2016, is a classic film screening series co-hosted by the K-Arts A&T Lab in collaboration with Old Cine(Classic Movie Archives), an online classic film collective founded in 2005. ‘The Rare Film Collection’, which considers what the true masterpieces of 20th-century cinema are, will be archived at the K-Arts A&T Lab after the screening to serve as the basis for film research and development. In particular, a retrospective exhibition is planned for February next year, focusing on hard-to-find performances to mark the first anniversary of the late actress Junghee Yoon, who sadly passed away this year.

All films screened at the ‘Wednesday Theater’ and ‘The Rare Film Collection’ are free of charge. For more information on the screening schedule, please visit K-Arts website at https://www.karts.ac.kr
