K-Arts has been selected for the “2024 Global Culture and Technology Expert Nurturing Project” sponsored by the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) and the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism. The project will fund 2.1 billion KRW of R&D fees from now till 2026 to cultivate global talents through international and academic-industrial joint research projects in arts and technology.

Led by the K-Arts’s Art & Technology Lab (AT Lab), the project will pursue joint research with the outstanding universities abroad in the field and corporations with technologies related to the project, including generative and emotion-recognition AI technology. The project ultimately aims to construct an R&D expert nurturing educational system specialized in culture through global cooperation and academic-industrial linkage.

Director Lee Sngmoo of AT Lab (professor of the Department of Filmmaking) stated, “By presenting cases where creators can realize their imagination to the fullest, we wish to establish a system that can continuously produce experts with good understanding and abundant experience in AI or metaverse contents. That way, we expect to strengthen the competitiveness of Korea’s content industry in the global market.”

Since 2018 for several years, K-Arts has been selected to the “Content One Campus Building Project” and “Cultural Content R&D Expert Nurturing Project” sponsored by the KOCCA. Through these projects, K-Arts made remarkable accomplishments, being invited to the 15 prestigious international film festivals including the Cannes with the project outcomes.
