The Korea National University of Arts (President Kim Dae-jin) has been selected for the 2024 Contents Campus Construction and Operation Support Project, funded by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Creative Content Agency.
The Contents Campus initiative is designed to foster convergence-based creative talent through innovative systems of collaboration between industry, academia, and research institutions. The project supports both the construction and operation of campuses dedicated to advancing cultural content development.
Through sustained participation in this program over the years, the Korea National University of Arts has achieved notable outcomes, including invitations to 15 international film festivals, such as the Cannes Film Festival.
This year’s project is led by the university’s Art and Technology Lab (AT Lab) and focuses on the production of advanced convergence musical performances that integrate spatial computing and generative artificial intelligence. The initiative brings together professors who have long been at the forefront of experimental media art, along with expert instructors such as <Marie Curie>, a composer known for her innovative musical work, to offer customized training programs.
AT Lab aims to elevate K-musicals to a new level of global competitiveness by developing next-generation performance formats. The lab also strives to nurture professionals equipped for the future media industry, while presenting a new paradigm of sustainable, barrier-free performances. These include 1:1 VR immersive experiences, AI-generated actors, and other pioneering creations grounded in previous research and creative achievements.
