AT Lab's Generative AI based virtual reality work <8pm and the cat> was officially invited to the 82nd Venice International Film Festival Emergent Competition (Venice Immersive) for the story of "Haru," a cartoonist who lost his lover in a sudden accident in Itaewon.

Venice International Film Festival is one of the most prestigious international film festivals in film and high-tech media, with <8pm and Cat> being the only Korean films invited to the immersive category this year, with 27 countries participation.

Director Choi Min-hyuk (a master in the multimedia video department at the Film Institute) expressed his intention to produce the movie by using real-time image and monologue generation technology through AI to unravel the time and space of sadness and absence in the loss of precious people into emotional flow, and to involve the audience in the journey of mourning and memory in "HARU" The festival also called the work "a creative and moving work that creates deep emotions by using artificial intelligence poetically and delicately."

<8pm and Cat> was completed after collaborating with Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) students to create prototypes in a global exchange class organized by AT Lab, followed by a flagship production class and creative advancement program.

Through this work, AT Lab once again proved the global competitiveness of convergence education at Korea National University of Arts.
